Infrastructure Funding

Government investment in infrastructure, as a means to unlock housing and new communities, is at unprecedented levels. Whether through the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF), Local Authority Accelerated Construction (LAAC), One Public Estate (OPE) or any number of other funding programmes, Local Authorities play an increasingly vital role as housing enablers. These funding programmes require a specific set of skills to navigate through the development of the concept and evidence base, building the economic case, promotion with key stakeholders, bidding for funding, contractual negotiation and delivery stages.

Hive’s Local Authority offer is based on a successful track record of securing funding for LA-led housing projects. Over the last 2 years Hive have secured over £120m of grant funding for LA clients across a variety of funding programmes, through having an in depth understanding of issues around VfM as well as the important role of the BCR and state aid. This includes one of the country’s first successful HIF Forward Fund bids in Carlisle and one of a small number of LAAC funded projects in the North West in Preston. Hive’s Founding Directors have a combined 19 years working for Homes England and predecessor bodies and combine an understanding of the funding bodies, the LA drivers and constraints and the commercial realities of delivering housing projects.
