Corporate Social Responsibility
At Hive, partnership and collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, be it with our clients, team, or the communities we work in. Our social responsibility philosophy is therefore at the heart of who we are as a company. We believe that making a difference to a community or helping to create opportunity in an environmentally sustainable way is the bare minimum that Hive as a business should strive to achieve.
Wherever we can, we use our professional skills to help those who otherwise would not receive the support or guidance they need and we are proud of our achievements so far in this regard and look forward to achieving more as we evolve.
Hive are also passionate about education of the next generation of planners and surveyors and want to make sure that opportunities are made available to all.
What We Have Achieved So Far
Since Hive was established in 2018, we have focused our efforts on a number of initiatives
Keen to engage the industry’s young talent of the future, we have worked hard to build links with local universities, in particular the University of Manchester. As a result, we have been able to offer graduate work experience placements to students. We have supported a number of undergraduates as part of Hive’s commitment to offering work experience placements and also recruited a graduate of our own, Kieran, who has been with us since 2019 and recently he achieved Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Christmas tree collection
We volunteer, on an annual basis, to collect Christmas trees across Sale, Altrincham, Hale and Bowdon in Cheshire. The popularity of the scheme has grown year on year, raising much needed funds for St Ann’s Hospice and St Mary’s Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit. Not only are the trees recycled responsibly and in a sustainable way, our involvement in the scheme marks one of our fundraising contributions to charity.
We have also engaged with even younger age groups, having attended a local primary school in Chorley to explain the built environment and how this impacts the way people live, as part of their wider geography curriculum. The youngsters designed their own utopian town as part of the visit!
Support for the hospitality sector
The Covid-19 pandemic has presented some tough challenges to businesses within the hospitality industry hit particularly hard. In response to this, we have offered free planning consultancy support to bars and pubs which are struggling in response to the multiple lockdowns. This has ranged from Change of Use applications to the retrospective siting of a marquee to increase the available seating during the winter months. This free planning advice has been critical in assisting business to adapt and exploit new opportunities in order to survive these challenging times, and it also ensures that the Hive team don’t go thirsty in the future!
As a company we have contributed to a range of charities.
Our choices are driven by our own interests as a company but we also value nominations from our clients.
