Stoneygate, Preston City Centre
City Centre regeneration
Client: Preston City Council
Hive are assisting the City Council on a long-term strategic priority to lead the regeneration of a large part of inner Preston known as Stoneygate, to the south east of the City Centre. Hive were initially instructed to draft a brief for a visioning masterplan for the area, along with client-side advice on the procurement and assessment of bids to appoint a multi-disciplinary consultant team to lead the work. Hive project managed the team on behalf of the client, resulting in the successful adoption of the masterplan, balancing the importance of place-making and design with providing market facing proposals and allowing an element flexibility.
Hive then undertook a detailed analysis of the site related opportunities resulting from the masterplan, working with the City Council to identify barriers to delivery and establishing site or area-related solutions to overcome those barriers. Hive produced site-related development material, aimed at attracting investors and then promoted these opportunities with the Council in an open but targeted way to focus on developers who specialised in these sorts of sites. In tandem with this promotion work Hive have worked with landowners and other stakeholders to secure buy-in and support for the initiative, as well as clearly articulating the aims and objectives of the Council.
This project has been hugely successful in taking what was a long-term aspiration, working with the Council and in collaboration with stakeholders, from strategy to implementation. The project required a range of core skill-sets and expertise, specifically around project management, planning and an in-depth understanding of the market, all of which assists the Council to deliver the regeneration of Stoneygate.
