North Cheshire Garden Village
Housing Infrastructure Fund Bid
Client: Engine of the North
Hive were instructed to lead, co-ordinate and draft significant sections of the Housing Infrastructure Fund Bid to secure funding to create critical primary infrastructure on the 1,675 unit site in Handforth, Cheshire. Being closely associated with work on Garden Villages and their delivery has been great for a growing start-up like Hive, to demonstrate the breadth of its experience by adding real value to the clients. Hive were able to bring their full range of planning, surveying, project management, public sector funding programmes and general commercial nous to the project to lead a large multi-disciplinary team to deliver a key site in Government’s Garden Village programme. The bid was successfully granted £21.7m of funding and Hive’s work has moved into negotiating funding conditions, working on the housing delivery strategy and advising on the implementation of the green infrastructure.
This complex project will be an early example of what a Garden Village can be. With the client’s commitment towards quality and innovation, supported by Hive’s broad consultancy offer, the potential for the future of this site offers an exciting glimpse of what future housing growth should be.
